About Us
This state-of-the-art facility provides over 50,000 square feet of space for the Seward Community to bring health and wellness into their lives. This space is for all people both young and old and provides so much opportunity to live, work, play and grow together in our community. This facility provides an arena with a setup for basketball, volleyball, pickleball, and a walking track. The facility also provides an indoor pool for aqua aerobics, a current channel for exercise or for just some fun, lap swimming opportunities and even a basketball hoop. The facility has a fully equipment weightroom along with a fitness studio and a youth room for education and learning. This facility is fully equipped also with locker rooms for men, women and families.
This inclusive facility was fund-raised, designed, and constructed with the help of professionals led by a team of volunteers who had a very clear vision of what the community was looking for. To be successful a multiple source funding approach was going to be needed. This led to a three-legged stool funding approach that consisted of 1/3 Public Support from the 0.5% City Sales Tax passed by 65% -45% margin, 1/3 Private Support for local donors, and 1/3 Foundations and Grants. Another part of the vision was on the inside of the facility and how it needed to be guided by employing multipurpose when making decisions about what would be included in the facility.
This project would not have been possible without the generosity and support of so many. A heartfelt thank you to the donors, whose belief in the mission made this vision a reality. From the people that contributed the land where this facility sits, to the people that made the Seward Wellness Center their largest gift ever, to those that gave what they could, we want to thank you. Without your contribution either large or small they all helped to get us to where we are today.
